Meet Cute in the Stands

I am truly out of my league for this week’s column.

As I started to formulate ideas of a column centered on Valentine’s Day Week, immediately this came to mind: “Sports romances are all the rage right now. Who hasn’t heard of Heated Rivalry?” Not only that, but more and more people were starting to explore the communities that have helped supported multiple independent and award winning authors with perspectives that aren’t featured in the main stream.

There was just one problem: I knew and still know nothing about this genre. Romance in sports was always associated with the actual game, rarely about the love that could come from meeting others through the game. The authors that I was fortunate enough to speak with this week gave me a crash course on what this genre and this community is all about. While some may roll their eyes at the stereotypes that they think about when they hear “sport romance” and some books may be spicier than others, you will still find lessons on acceptance, differing perspectives, and of course, love. They just happen to use sports as the opening.

Let’s hear from these independent and award winning authors on what this community has taught them…
