Flags of Our Fans: After The Party’s Gone
It’s been almost two weeks since we finished throwing the party of the summer.
We swept up red and yellow confetti off our floors. our fridges are full of jamon, empanadas, and cachupa. Champagne stains are still in the carpet.
All we’ll have left are the memories from one of the biggest sporting events in United States history.
However, let’s not have the last month cloud the memory of what this event could have been. Legitimate concerns regarding the safety of fans traveling here, the security surrounding stadiums, and the effects that these cities would absorb from such an international event took up the thoughts of the guests we’ve met over the last year before any game came up.
Now that the World Cup has come and gone, I checked back in with some of the guests that have shared their story with us for this series. Did the concerns they have come to pass or did the game of soccer really solve everything?
